THE SWEDISH WOMEN’S LOBBY

Sveriges Kvinnoorganisationer, in English the Swedish Women’s Lobby, is a politically and religiously independent umbrella organization for the Swedish women’s movement. We bring together 50 associations that together represent over 130 000 women and girls.

We work for the liberation of women and girls, their full human rights, and a gender equal society. Everything that we do is based on feminist values and specifically on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and Sweden’s national gender equality goals. We work with advocacy for women’s rights and gender equality through a range of activities such as producing reports and other materials, arranging seminars and meetings, analyzing governmental policies, and regularly commenting on gender equality issues in the media.

Every year, the Swedish Women’s Lobby, review the national government budget from a gender equality perspective. We convey the network Lön hela dagen for gender equal pay and run the initiative Reklamera against sexist advertising. We have an abolitionist stance on all forms of trafficking in women, which means we want to abolish prostitution, pornography and surrogacy.

Our company Forum Jämställdhet organize Sweden’s largest annual gender equality conference. We also offers consulting services such as training, analysis and advice in gender equality.

The Swedish Women’s Lobby is the national coordination of the European Women’s Lobby, EWL, which brings together over two thousand women’s organizations from all over Europe. We have consultative status at ECOSOC and annually represent our member organizations at the UN Commission on Women, CSW.

In 2022, we changed our Swedish name from Sveriges Kvinnolobby to Sveriges Kvinnoorganisationer.
