The Swedish Women’s Lobby

The Swedish Women’s Lobby (SWL) is a politically and religiously independent umbrella organization for women’s organizations in Sweden. We work to fulfill women’s full human rights and towards a gender equal society within Sweden, the EU and internationally.

The Swedish Women’s Lobby was established in 1997 and gather 47 member organizations with the mutual aim to improve the status of women in the Swedish society. Our aim is to integrate women’s perspectives into all political, economic and social processes, locally as well as internationally.

The organization is based on feminist grounds. The foundations of our activities are the UN Convention of the Elimination of All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and the Beijing Platform for Action.

Our work is characterized by project based activities and thematic cooperations with our member organizations and networks on a Nordic, European and international level. We strive to build and strengthen solidarity among women through information, education and awareness raising activities.

The Swedish Women’s Lobby is the Swedish coordination of the European Women’s Lobby (EWL). The EWL is the European umbrella organization for women’s organizations on both national and European level, with more than two thousand member organizations across Europe. Through and toghether with the EWL, we advocate for gender equality and women’s rights within European politics.
